Eastern Rajasthan offers a distinctive combination of royal heritage, riverine ecology, ravine landscapes and living cultural traditions. This 4-day circuit connects Dholpur, known for its historic royal heritage and distinctive red sandstone; the Chambal River landscape, recognised for its wildlife and conservation importance; and Karauli, a historic princely town with palace and temple heritage. The circuit is particularly suitable as an extension from Agra, allowing travellers to explore a lesser-known part of Rajasthan without undertaking long inter-city journeys.

DAY1: ARRIVAL IN DHOLPUR – ROYAL HERITAGE

Agra - Dholpur
Approx. 60 km | Around 1.5–2 hours by road
Arrive in Dholpur and check into the hotel.
Begin the afternoon with a heritage exploration of the city.

DAY 02: THE CHAMBAL – RIVER, RAVINES & WILDLIFE

Road transfer followed by guided river safari The second day focuses on the Chambal River ecosystem, one of the most distinctive natural environments in the region.

A guided boat safari provides an opportunity to experience the river landscape and observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Possible sightings include:
  • Gharial
  • Mugger crocodile
  • Migratory birds during the winter season
  • Other riverine wildlife
The Chambal landscape is particularly known for its dramatic ravines, sandbanks and relatively undisturbed river environment.

  • Wildlife Photography : The open river landscape provides excellent opportunities for nature and bird photography.
  • Birdwatching :  Winter months offer particularly good opportunities for observing resident and migratory species.
  • Ravine Landscape : The distinctive erosion-formed ravines are an important geographical feature of the Chambal region.

DAY 03: DHOLPUR - KARAULI – PALACE, TEMPLES & LIVING HERITAGE

After breakfast, depart for Karauli.
