Strengthening domestic tourism through collaboration, connectivity and immersive destination experiences.
Kashmir continues to be one of India's most captivating travel destinations, offering a remarkable combination of scenic landscapes, cultural heritage and memorable hospitality.
To further strengthen domestic tourism in Jammu & Kashmir, the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), J&K Chapter, organized the “Train to Valley” Pan-India Kashmir FAM Tour 2026 from 25 to 28 September 2026.
The initiative brought together travel trade delegates, itinerary planners and domestic tour operators from across India. The programme offered participants an opportunity to experience destinations firsthand, understand local hospitality services and explore new possibilities for developing attractive Kashmir travel packages.
Delegates visited Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari, checking sightseeing options, transfers and hotels for families, honeymooners and adventure travellers.
Shikara rides, houseboats and gardens such as Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh showed operators how to match stays and locations to different budgets.
The Phase I ride from Gulmarg to Kongdoori highlighted seasonal packages, from winter snow activities to summer meadow visits.
One of the major highlights of the programme was the Grand Tourism Evening held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on 27 September 2026. The gathering provided a platform for visiting ADTOI delegates to connect with local tourism stakeholders.
Hoteliers, transport providers, craft representatives and tourism industry participants had an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore areas of cooperation. Such direct interaction can help strengthen business relationships and support the development of well-coordinated travel experiences.
The event also highlighted the relationship between tourism and local cultural traditions. Presentations of handcrafted Kashmiri shawls reflected the importance of regional craftsmanship as part of the visitor experience.
The broader objective was to encourage stronger business-to-business engagement, promote year-round tourism opportunities and establish partnerships that benefit both visiting travel businesses and local service providers.
The Train to Valley FAM Tour highlighted the value of bringing travel professionals and destination stakeholders together. Firsthand exposure to attractions, accommodation and local services provides a stronger foundation for creating informative and practical travel itineraries.
